At least that’s the name that seems to have stuck!
In reality I feel I’ve worn as many hats as times I’ve moved house (35 at last count).
ALEX THE SCIENTIST
As a child I had two great loves: art and science. I dreamed of becoming a doctor but even after completing a nursing course and then a science degree, my artistic side was still itching to be let free.
ALEX THE ARTIST
I’ve led quite a transient life so making a home within four walls became my thing. I’ve been through many design phases, but a love use of colour always stuck. Around 10 years ago I started a company that created graphics on canvas and the design seed was planted. I’ve never looked back since!
ALEX THE EXPERT
In designing the perfect spaces for my clients I’ve also designed my perfect life.
As well as working one-on-one, I like to get around in design town…
I have previoulsy worked as a brand ambassador for Dulux NZ. I was part of their United by Style panel – bringing colour forecasts to life (and creating some pretty way out designs for events and launches, too!)
I’m a regular contributor to Your Home and Garden Magazine
I was a guest judge on The Block NZ in 2013 & 2015
My work has been featured in HOME Magazine, Abode,
Habitat and Homestyle magazines, NZ Herald and Apartment Therapy
I was a Dulux Colour Awards Finalist two years in a row and won the
People’s Choice Award at the 2011 Dine by Design Competition

KATIE MCNAMARA
aka ‘Head of Socks and Undies/Office Guru’
Katie is a jack of all trades. She currently looks after all our office admin, online orders, graphic design and communications.
She hails from Australia, but we dont hold that against her.
Her employment history is very varied having working in hospitality, retail, graphic design, administration and education. She has even worked as a White Water Rafting Guide!
